Alaska 2005 - Campsites

The following photographs of our 57 campsites show the variety of locations we used during our 102 nights on the road. Camping in Alaska was considerable less structured than we were accustomed to previously. However, we adjusted quickly to the freedom and enjoyed some beautiful views not available in commercial campgrounds.

(This campground was built on the tailings from gold mining.)
Chicken Gold Camp in Chicken, AK
(They generated their own electricity from 7am to 7pm.)
(They used a Satellite phone and provided a WiFi hotspot.)

(They generated their own electricity 24 hours a day.)
(A free night of camping was available with a fill-up of fuel.)

The views from our windows changed as the
weather changed.
This road carried very little traffic so it was quiet at night.
Haines was delightful. We stayed here a week.

While the campsites were many and varied, we enjoyed the constant convenience and comfort of our fifth wheel.
