Cruise 2011- Day 5

Cruising toward Home (Fort Lauderdale)

Updated: 02/15/11

Day 5 was a full day of cruising toward Fort Lauderdale, Florida.

The day started with a breakfast in the dining room - hot chocolate for the girls, hot tea for Grandma, coffee for Michelle..

The girls had banana pancakes with caramel syrup. Ashlyn asked for whipped cream for her pancakes. What she and Lily got was REAL, honest to goodness, whipped cream.

A couple returning to their stateroom after breakfast . . .

At dinner the first four evenings, a photographer visited each table. He would make several photographs of several people and individuals.

On the evening we were to 'dress up' for dinner, groups posed for a photograph prior to entering the dining room.

The photographs were displayed in a section of the promenade deck. You could purchase individual photographs, packages of photographs or they would reprint a selection.

Not having shopped previously, this was our last opportunity.

After time shopping and packing for our departure, we went to the Windjammer for lunch.

a food station . . .                     a soft serve ice cream station . . .                       a fruit stations . . .

After lunch, we walked to the back of the ship to see the turbulence the twin propellers were making. The ship has a top cruising speed of 23.7 knots ( 27.3 MPH)

It gave us a view of the 'business end' of the ship on the lower decks.

We saw people pushing carts loaded with trays and people cleaning windows.

We talked to a chef from Guyana out on a break. He husband is a chef supervisor on another deck.

There were 130 couples working on the Navigator of the Sea for this season.

Painters were willing to stop their work to pose for a photograph.

We know you are thinking, how many photographs at different angles can they make of this part of the ship.

Mary Lou had not been up to Deck 14 - the Cosmopolitan Club. It give a good look at the pool deck. It was not a busy today.

Dinner this evening had a spirited 'thank you' from the staff for letting them serve us. They clapped and sang.

This last dinner, Ayhan was still trying to win Lily over.

Ashlyn and Lily posed with Ayhan and Olenka.

The last 'special'  order of chocolate ice cream.

Tonight's folded towel pet, a mouse.

The band played . . .

The guest dance team performed again . . .

Mike presented his 'Top 10' funny questions from the cruise . . .

Here are three of them . . .

Comedian Matt Disero had the audience laughing . . .

The dance team performed for a final time this cruise . . .

Then, Mike said the crew wanted to thank us . . .

. . . instantly, a blur of crew members were running down the aisles.

They filled the stage.

Everyone enjoyed the show.

We exited the Metropolis for the last time.

Tomorrow, our cruise will end.
