Michigan - Mini 2018 . . . St. Louis, MI

Updated: 08/27/18

Note from Fred: We will find a better location and/or time of day for our 2019 group photograph.

We parked ten HitchHiker fifth wheels at this year's M&M.

Our neighbors across the road were spinning with joy that we had returned to St Louis. Wind generators were plentiful. A cashier in a local restaurant told Fred 76 more were scheduled to be erected in the area.

Every morning the men went to McDonalds in St Louis for breakfast.

To Fred's dismay, the guys insisted that their breakfast was better at 7:30AM than at 9:00am.

Every morning that is ... except Thursday ... the guys went to Anschutz Cafe in Breckenridge.
A call came from the guys in the truck behind us to turn left to the Anschutz Cafe in Breckenridge.

Snacks were on the table in the
Senior Building all day for gamers or talkers.

TUESDAY . . .

The planning meeting was held Tuesday morning.

We had to take our truck in for service Monday morning. Therefore, we arrived late Monday - a day late to the 2018 M&M. They held Sunday's 'Welcome Potluck' without us.

Mary Lou was the 'organizer' this year. She was not missed - the group went to the Anschutz Cafe for dinner Tuesday without her assistance.

The M&Ms are very loosly scheduled. The men play golf twice, a couple table game times were scheduled each day, conversation gatherings were spontaneous. Oh, eating out was a common occurrence. We do what the group wants to do. Or, you do your own thing.

Lunch at The Hearthstone Oven Bakery and Cafe . . .

Good food and excellent pies! Even going at 11:00am, the selection of pies was depleted. We had to settle for peach, cherry, coconut cream and chocolate peanut butter pies.

Over pie, the women decided a return visit for breakfast was a great idea. (The pies were ordered ahead to avoid disappointment.)

Conversation gathering . . . a small but powerful one.

THURSDAY . . .

St. Louis was the site of a farmers market and a stop on the "Old 27 Motor Tour". Only a few of our group took advantage of the opportunities.

In the afternoon, several people gathered at Ron and Lois's for conversation. If you study the photographs closely, they show additions and deletions from the group as the afternoon progressed.

Then, one by one, they wondered away to prepare food for the farewell potluck at 6:00pm.

The first task in preparation for the potluck was to eliminate as many flies as possible from the Senior Building. Rex may have lost the race ... but ... he tried.

Note the fly swatters hanging on the wall - this was obviously not an unusual challenge.

The food prepared for the potluck drew a line of hungry eaters.

The availability of the Senior Building removed weather concerns.

After dinner, we had a brief planning meeting for the 2019 Michigan Mini. (see below)

After the meeting, the evening games began. Euchre was a popular and continuous game. We had people waiting for someone to become exhausted and in need of a break. A 'relief' player was at the ready.

Some played 'Pegs and Jokers'.

A good time was had by all. Several commented that they appreciated the low key atmosphere. They expressed that they are at the M&M because of the people who attend and the ability to spend time with them instead of always being 'on the go'.

The 2019 M&M will be in St Louis
Arrive: Sunday, August 18, 2019
